Pupils at Stockport Grammar School are celebrating an excellent set of A Level results, securing places on a wide range of prestigious university courses, degree apprenticeships and professional pathways.

The school’s results have climbed steadily over the past three years with 92% of pupils achieving A* – C compared to 86% in 2023, with A grades rising from 2025.

This year 42% of our pupils achieved the highest grades of A* – A and 91% of pupils have been accepted into their chosen course. These results will see our pupils progress to a diverse range of destinations including Universities of Cambridge, Manchester, Liverpool and the Royal Northern College of Music.

While university is the next step for many, lots of our pupils have chosen to study apprenticeships or degree apprenticeships. Deputy Head of School Finn will be beginning a Nuclear Submarine Degree Apprenticeship with Rolls Royce combining further study with practical experience as he pursues a career in engineering, an area that has long interested him during his time at SGS.

Richard Sullivan (OS 1990) was proud to see his eldest daughter, Abigail, receive her A Level results and graduate in the Class of 2026. And his youngest daughter Charlotte, received her GCSE results, and will return to SGS, starting Lower Sixth in the upcoming academic year.

At GCSE level. this year, 63% of grades were 9,8 and 7 with 23% being the highest grade of 9. Almost 96% of pupils achieved a 5 and above in Maths and English with 100% of pupils achieving 9-7 grades in Further Maths. All pupils who studied Drama, German, Statistics, Music, Religious Studies and EPQ achieved 9-4 grades.

Head, Mrs Sarah Capewell said: “The results are a testament to the strength of our school community and the high aspirations our pupils hold for themselves. I wish them every success as they take the next steps in their education and future careers.”

Congratulations to all our SGS pupils who recieved their results this August!
