We are delighted to share the wonderful news that our first ever Stockport Grammar School Giving Day has been a resounding success, thanks to your generosity and support.
The Giving Day, which took place over 36 hours on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th March, saw an incredible collective response from parents, Old Stops, pupils, staff and the wider community in support of our Bursary Fund. We received more than 307 donations, with many people making their first ever gift to SGS. Together, we raised an incredible £135,114, which far exceeded our expectations. We are so grateful to the Old Stopfordians and to the Stockport Parents' Association who provided matched funding.
On Wednesday 18th March, Senior School pupils competed in their Houses to find out which House was the fastest through a 100ft inflatable obstacle course. Congratulations to Vernon who have won their entire House ice cream. The Junior School learned to play quidditch on Thursday with House Arden (Ravenclaw) winning the House Cup. But, the most exciting aspect of the Giving Day was the first ever Head to Head Challenge. Mrs Capewell, Head of the Senior School, came out victorious against Mr Copping, Head of the Junior School, at the inflatable joust. We are grateful to our undercard staff members who also took part: Mr Allen, Mr Crowther, Mr Shingler, Mr Shaw, Mr Heyes, Mr Philips, Mr Talbot and Mr Dixon.
Every year, talented and motivated young people join Stockport Grammar School thanks to the generosity of those who believe financial circumstance should not be a barrier to an SGS education. Our Bursary Award Scheme transforms lives – by supporting the fund, you help us ensure that curiosity, character and ambition - not income - shape a their future.

Once again, thank you for your incredible support of our SGS Giving Day. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to our community and for helping us provide transformative bursariees to pupils.
