Brian Peter Garner (OS 1966) was was brought up in Hazel Grove. His father and brother also attended SGS. He went on to study Veterinary Medicine at Liverpool where he met his future wife, Janet Warren, (who was studying PE at I. N. Marsh). From Liverpool he worked in Daventry and Bracknell before eventually moving back to Hazel Grove to set up his own veterinary practice.
He had two children (Paul and Julie) and two grandchildren (Georgie and Frankie). Brian enjoyed an active lifestyle participating in various sports including motorcycle racing, golf and cycling. In his later years he renewed his love for fly fishing with his trusty companion Willow the black labrador.
A member of the Hazel Grove-based Manchester 17 Motorcycle Club, Brian was part of their team which competed in the 1985 International Six-Days Enduro in Spain.
He will be remembered for his no-nonsense attitude to things, his incredibly dry wit and sense of humour. He will be sorely missed by all his friends and family.
