The Old Stops' Golf Society are looking to recruit new members to play in their yearly competitions. All Old Stops' are eligible to play and represent Stockport Grammar School. 

Each year the following informal competitions take place: 

• Founders Day
  • On Founders Day, 12th March 2027, Old Stops' gather together to celebrate with a round of golf. 
• Worth Trophy
  • This competition takes place against the Old Maxonians, alumni from King's School Macclesfield. 
  • Taking place on 21st May this year at Knutsford Golf Club from 12.30pm, with a buffet afterwards.
  • All players require an up to date WHS Handicap. 
• Inter-Oldies Competition
  • This competition takes place between alumni from SGS, King's School Macclesfield, Cheadle Hulme, and William Hulme's Grammar, with players of all ages taking part. 
  • Taking place this year on 3rd July at the newly updated Bramhall Golf Club.
  • There is a trophy for the Old Stops' player with the best score!
• The Oppida Cup 
  • The esteemed Old Stops' internal competition will take place in September of this year. Venue TBC. 
  • The Cup has great history dating back almost 100 years and the winner is awarded the impressive trophy, which resides most of the year in the cabinet outside the Governors Room at School!
