On Saturday 25th June we were delighted to welcome back members of the SGS Quincentenary Rugby Tour group to celebrate 35 years since the tour. Our thanks to Danny Adamson (OS 1988) for organising the gathering.
Ahead of the game Former PE Teacher, Mr Steve Dunn, shared
35 years ago Leonard Kynaston and I had the great pleasure of taking these boys on a World Tour to celebrate Stockport Grammar School Quincentenary. Tomorrow we reunite again as good friends and brothers in arms.
Back row: Colin Nevett, Matthew Birt, Steven Foster Middle row: Tony Carlin, Phil Browne, Ian Mehta, Danny Adamson, Dom Huxley, Dave Schofield Bottom row: Steve Dunn (Master), Leonard Kynaston (Master), Peter Mycock, Mark Simpson
We were suprised to see these original SGS shirts sported by Peter Mycock, who travelled from Australia, Mark Simpson and Phil Browne!
Below is the photograph from the original tour. You can read more about the Quincentenary Rugby Tour, which saw the team fly to San Francisco, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Los Angeles in 1987 here.
We look forward to seeing everyone back again in 2027!
