Congratulations to Old Stopfordian Ross Millington (OS 2008) who took second place in yesterday's Manchester Marathon with a finish time of 02:11:37.
The Therme Manchester Marathon is one of the UK’s premier running events and this year welcomed over 24,000 runners in the 26.2 mile challenge.
Ross is a British long distance runner. He represented Great Britain in the Men’s 10,000m Rio Olympic Games in 2016 and continues to represent Britain in the European Championships alongside many other marathon’s and competitions.
Ross recalled:
SGS is where I started my athletic journey. If it wasn’t for the encouragement of the PE staff and the amount of sport we were able to do at SGS I may never have gone down this path. The competitive element at SGS has helped me achieve in all aspects since I left the school.
