On Friday 28 March, the Library hosted their latest in the lunchtime 'Spotlight on...' series. Today was the turn of Anna Davies (OS 2019) and Hanah Currie from Hall Brown Family Law.
The topic was 'Pathways to a career in law' and saw Anna and her colleague Hannah Currie (Associate Solicitor at Hall Brown Family Law) speak to a keen audience of pupils about the different ways to approach the legal profession.
During the course of the talk, Anna and Hannah discussed studying a subject at university and then completing a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) versus reading Law from the very start of a university career. They also explained the benefits of work experience, the features of taking an apprenticeship route to a career in Law, and the various legal disciplines, such as Family Law.
Speaking of the start of her own legal career, Anna mentioned that she saw an Old Stop in Old Stops' Review, who practised Family Law, and was keen for her career to go in a similar direction. Little did she know at the time, that Old Stop that she saw in the magazine would one day be her boss at Hall Brown. Anna's story shows how the Old Stops community can support and inspire - whether you are at the start of your career journey or have many years of experience.
Thank you to Anna and Hannah for sharing your expertise with staff and pupils alike.
