Congratulations to former Head, Andrew Chicken, in being welcomed as a Liveryman of the Goldsmiths' Company last week.
At one of the oldest ceremonies in the City of London, the 23 new Liverymen were 'clothed' in the blue ceremonial Livery gowns to signify membership of a guild.
Held in the Exhibition Room at Goldsmiths' Hall (where SGS' own London Reunion will be held in May), the ceremony was conducted by Chief Executive and Clerk, Annie Warburton who ‘clothed’ the new Liverymen in a blue ceremonial gown. The Liverymen were presented to the Prime Warden Richard Reid and the Second Warden Ed Butler before finishing the ceremony in front of friends and family.
The new Liverymen was then a guest at a dinner with Wardens and Court of Assistants to celebrate and learn more about their contribution to the Goldsmiths' Company.
Mr Chicken was Head at Stockport Grammar School from 2005 until he retired in 2018, and was a supporter of the School's long-standing relationship with the Goldsmiths' Company, as he reminded Old Stops of the School's philanthropic beginnings thanks to Sir Edmond Shaa.
Congratulations Mr Chicken on this tremendous achievement.
