At SGS, we pride ourselves on working as a community to support current pupils – the Old Stops of tomorrow. On Friday 15 November, it was the Careers Afternoon for third years. We welcomed speakers - including Old Stops and parents - who gave up their time to tell the pupils about their jobs and careers. The pupils were able to listen to four talks during the afternoon about a range of careers including Architecture, Law, Medicine, Environmental Science, Psychology, Engineering, TV production, Emergency Service, IT and Business.
It was a great afternoon with some very interesting talks that the pupils enjoyed. It has hopefully informed them about careers they were interested in and some that they hadn’t considered. The pupils will continue to do further research into careers in their Life Studies lessons before making their GCSE choices next term.
Thank you to Old Stops Amy Morgan (OS 2014), Michael Sidebottom (OS 2016), Lucy Sumner (OS 2015), Dave Chadwick (OS 2008), Qasim Hussain (OS 2016), Isabella Byrne (OS 2022), Charlotte Jackson (OS 2022), Matty Taylor (OS 2016), and Dr Alex Collingwood (OS 2013) for giving up their Friday afternoons share their stories with current pupils.
