This year’s Summer BBQ featured a slight change in venue, with the BBQ, bar, bouncy castles and tables all moving to the front of the School (or the back depending on how you view it!). This meant guests were able to enjoy watching the cricket whilst being able to grab something to eat and children could be minded on the bouncy castles at the same time. We hope guests felt this change created a greater sense of community at the event and we will endeavour to do this again next year, weather permitting. There was ice cream for the kids (both big and little) and we expanded our bar offerings with both non-alcoholic beer and Pimm’s.
The Class of 1988 played cricket against the Cavaliers whilst four Old Stop football teams competed for bragging rights! You can read their accounts of their respective games here - Cricket and Football.
Stuart Whalley, Former Head of Biology, returned to school much to the joy of many and we were also joined by the following former staff members: DJ Markham (Former Maintenance Staff), Liz Nott (Former Classics Teacher) and Neil Young (Former Head of Design Technology).
Year groups who attended the event included:
Class of 2019 for a 5 Year Reunion
Class of 2014 for a 10 Year Reunion
Class of 2004 for a 20 Years Reunion
Class of 1994 for a 30 Year Reunion
Class of 1988 for an impromptu 36 Year Reunion*
Class of 1984 for a 40 Year Reunion
Class of 1974 for a 50 Year Reunion
* Please note your 40 Year Reunion will be in 2028, we’d encourage you to send in any photos you might have in preparation!
Our thoughts are with the families of Alistair Lee (OS 1988) and Muhammad 'Hamas' Tariq (OS 2019) whose former classmates and friends were in attendance.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended and supported this event, we can’t wait to see you and the Classes of 2020, 2015, 2005, 1995, 1985, and 1975 back next year!
A photo gallery from the event can be viewed below.
