Former Head of PE, Chris Wright, has shared a memento from the school photo album which may bring back some fond memories of the annual Old Stops vs 1st XV rugby match.
As some may recall, this well supported day in the Old Stops calendar saw recent leavers (from the June previous), return each Autumn to face the school’s current first XV rugby team in what was always a great occasion!
This photo is believed to be from 1994 with Jamie Fletcher as Captain of the Old Stops (back row, 6th from the left) and ‘Chalkie’ White as the 1st XV Captain (front row, 8th from the left).
Old Stops would organise a special set of shirts, green and white in this particular year, and would attach letters on the back which when placed together, formed something often amusing which would be shared at the end of the match.
Can you spot any other familiar faces on the photo and did you ever take part in one of these matches?
