The 2024 Albert Johnston Award holder is heading to Australia this summer to pursue her interest in biology and investigate the efffects of climate change on marine ecosystems. She will be working with the University of Queensland, alongside PhD students as a volunteer, to map and sample the coral reef to investigate if coral can be used as a natural indicator of environmental change. Between dives she will be assisting the researchers in monitoring the effects of thermal stress on southern manta ray migration.
If any Old Stops are in Sydney between 30 June - 8 July or from 22 - 27 July and would like to meet up with her please let us know and we'll put you both in contact. Please email Aria Johnston, johnstona@stockportgrammar.co.uk, if this is something you would be interested in.
