On the day we celebrate International Women’s Day, what an honour it was for our Junior School and Sixth Form pupils to have the opportunity of hearing from Professor Danielle George CBE, CEng, FIET, FRSA, FCGI, FBCS about her work in astrophysics and unravelling the secrets of the universe!
Having recently congratulated Professor George upon receipt of her CBE award, we were grateful for her kind offer to come in to school to speak to our pupils. During her talks she covered interesting topics such as: why her work into space radio frequencies is so important to our understanding of the universe and life on our planet; the future of space exploration; and the possibility of finding a second Earth-like planet.
Our pupils were enthralled by a discussion about the struggles of not only finding another planet capable of life, but the challenges of transporting humans to the alternate planet. Thank you to Professor George for giving her time to help inspire those considering a future career in science.
